Songbird is a metaphor for the power that music has to transform our perceptions and break barriers of isolation and confinement. While creating Songbird I focused on creating a strong relationship between music and visuals in order to allow both aspects to work together to tell a simple, engaging and universal story.

For this group project we chose the human heart as a guiding theme, that and the black, white and red colour scheme were the only limitations we set for ourselves. The four of us then each went our separate ways to create the content of this piece. We came back together a week later to mash it all together into the chaotic eye candy you see before you. Encompassing a wide range of styles and techniques ranging from hand drawn to complex particle systems, Tales from the Heart is a wild ride through the body, the gutter and the cosmos.

This group project was created as an entry for the 2009 AIDS Bow Valley promotional movie contest. This piece was completed from concept to final output in a very short and sweet four days. Achieving this result within such a compressed time frame was a great confidence booster. Our goal was to keep the safer sex message positive, fun and tasteful.
